Tim Drake, Batman #441 (via robinsrus)
this is, i would say this is tim drake’s most famous quote. if you’ve heard of comics tim as robin, if you’ve heard of tim’s original origin? this quote was probably involved.
tim becoming robin, that was so… important, in the formation of the legacy of robin, in the modern age. tim’s respect for and understanding of the role, that just—that’s not only a huge part of tim’s character, that meant so much in the way the public came to understand ROBIN and robin’s role in batman’s life.
if you don’t have “batman needs a robin,” how the hell do you justify batman taking on another sidekick after jason’s death? as much victim blaming as comics and bruce himself does… bruce has always carried that weight, carried that guilt. that’s why he’s got that fucking case to remind him. how the HELL does tim’s new origins make sense for not only for tim, but for bruce, and for batman and robin as we know it? or batman and red robin now?
part of what pisses me off so bad is that the creators, the writers, they don’t fucking think, they don’t fucking CARE about all this fitting together. they just throw shit, make up random shit, without thinking about the rich history that was their greatest strength before. and the fans? fuck, we care so much. we keep finding all these plot holes because the new shit doesn’t make a lick of sense and fuck, we WANT it to make sense, we WANT it to fit together, we want to be wowed.
it’s just change for change’s sake. i don’t understand.
